Mine

This was first exhibited at Vimana Gallery for “Unapologetic” (Girls, Girls, Girls Cycle 4).

The torso was taken from an old piece from 2007. Used other parts of the original piece, such as the hands and limbs, for other pieces.

“Mine”. Epoxy, screen, wire, automotive paint, shadow box. 21.5x 17.5in , 2023.

This is an assertion of a woman’s claim to her own body, particularly her own “lady parts”. These parts are life-giving and nurturing, as they are a source of pleasure. These belong to her,  and as far as   decisions regarding these matters and these parts are concerned, it is her choice that matters. The piece shows a torso, with hands reaching for lady parts, giving it a sexual connotation. If the piece could talk, it would say, “These are mine, and don’t you forget it.”
